The Hazardous Atmospheres Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) outlines the main hazards and risks associated with work where hazardous atmospheres due to unsafe oxygen levels, airborne contaminants or flammable gases or vapours are or may be present including risks of asphyxiation, poisoning, explosion and fire, or chronic damage to the body or nervous system due to exposure to hazardous chemicals.
The SWMS provides details of the health and safety precautions (including protective equipment) necessary when working in hazardous (or potentially hazardous) atmospheres.
